MANUFACTURING GUIDELINE

At Silverbirch, we put a strong emphasis on customer service to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all of our clients. To make this process as easy and efficient as possible, the following steps will help guide you through. If you have questions/concerns or require further clarification at any point, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Steps To Get Started:

Licensing

If all of the material to be manufactured is original (i.e. no cover songs), then this section does not apply to you. If you do have material on your album that you do not own the rights to, you will need to secure appropriate licensing from the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA). This is a very simple process that can be taken care of easily. Please proceed here to continue with this step.

Deadline

Though we always do our best to maintain the fastest turn time possible for all of our clients, it is important that you specify if there is an exact date (i.e. a release party, departure for tour etc.) for which you need the completed product. For more information regarding turn time and deadlines, please read on here.

Graphics/Templates

Please refer to the Graphics section for more information about this process, or if you require design/layout work to be provided by Silverbirch. If you don’t require any design work from our end, we will be glad to send the appropriate templates that you require to prepare your layout. Once your layout is complete, you will be sending the files directly to our designer for one free file check. Once the file check is complete, the designer will send you the first set of proofs to approve before we go to press. Furthermore, please specify if you will require a bar code for your order (needed for retail purposes only) which we can gladly generate for you.

Master

If you require mastering for your project or have any questions regarding the master itself, please refer to our mastering section. We do have a full service record/mix/mastering facility on site if you would like to explore that further. If you are providing us with a master for manufacturing, we require either a hard copy master or a proper ddp master uploaded and clearly labeled to our ftp site. Please inquire within if you need further clarification about this.

Deposit

Before we proceed with your order, we do take a mandatory deposit of 60% up front. We do offer various payment methods to make this process as convenient for you as possible.

Mandatory Forms

As standard procedure goes, below you will find two forms that need to be completed by all clients and sent back to us before we proceed with your project. The first form is a Replication Rights Form (RRF), and the second is the Terms/Conditions form. If you have any questions regarding either of these forms, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Proofs

Once the file check has been completed by our designer and the correct specifications have been confirmed, the first set of pdf. proofs will be generated and sent to you. Please have a careful look at these proofs to ensure that everything is correct (i.e. spelling, content, placement etc.). If there are any issues, please bring them to our attention. Once the first set of proofs have been approved and all necessary elements for the order are in place, we will prepare to go to press. You will then receive a second set of pdf. proofs from the plant. This is your last chance to verify that everything is correct with your art work before printing. Once these proofs are approved, the process begins. It’s at this point from which the turn time begins (typically 10 business days). If you have special concerns regarding the colour of your art work, we do offer printer proofs (hard copy) at an extra charge. If you are interested in this, please inquire within.
